Saint Paul’s Church (Mission), Kamarapara honored Rev.Fr.Tony Lobo on the harvest feast (Nawai Porob) celebrated at Majherdanga village on 15.12.2019. It was a long dream of the parishioners of Narayanpur and Khurul to felicitate and honor him for the missionary work done by Fr. Tony for about 25 years. He as a young priest sowed the seed of faith in these tribal villages coming all the way from Burdwan (then Archdiocese of Calcutta) and later from Nuta Mission (Asansol Diocese). It was the gesture of gratitude from Mrs. Pano Hembrom (aged 70) and Mr. Rameshwar Kisku (aged 55) who were very instrumental in remembering Fr. Tony Lobo and took initiative to invite him for Nawai porob.
He was given a grand welcome according to Santal tradition escorted by about 800 faithful and first Holy Communion children. Fr.Tony Lobo lit the Advent candle and began the solemn thanksgiving Eucharist. During his homily, he remembered and recalled the missionary activity and thanked God for the energy received as blessings from God. He also called the faithful to build the Christian community with strong faith by supporting one another and asked them to be faithful to God always. During the Eucharist 10 children received their First Holy Communion from Fr. Tony Lobo.
During the Felicitation, Fr.Britto, briefed the personality of Fr. Tony and his zeal for missions. Mrs. Pano and Mr. Rameshwar honoured Fr. Tony on behalf of the Khurul and Narayanpur villages. The parishioners of St. Paul’s Church felicitated him by offering him a Shawl. Fr. Tony thanked all for their gesture of gratitude and their love towards him.
