IP Sarto gave a history of the pastoral ministry of Bishop Monis. Bishop Julius Marandi of Dumka preached a meaningful homily during the Mass highlighting the qualities of Bishop Monis.

At the end of the Liturgy a cultural program was staged to felicitate him. A book on Jesus Christ and Gandhiji in Bengali written by Mr. Apurbo Kumar Haldar from Krishnagar was released during the program.

He was transferred to Morning Star Seminary as Minister from 1990 to 1992.During that time he worked among the Bengali speaking people in Guma and Bamandanga parishes.

His priestly life influenced four of his own nephews to join the priesthood and three nieces for Religious life.

His Episcopal ordination was on Aug 4, 1994 at St. Xavier’s School grounds, Burdwan. On March 12, 1998 he was installed as the First Bishop of Asansol at Sacred Heart Church, Asansol.

His message to Laity: to deepen one’s faith and trust in Jesus for sustenance

To priests: Total dedication for the people

To young Bishops: You are chosen by God. Touch the people with the healing power of Christ.

Bishop Cyprian Monis is appreciated by people for his Charismatic prayer, simple life style, gentleness, availability, and listen to people patiently.
